<p><strong>Biography</strong></p>
<p>Ballard Here and Now Ballard Area History 1884-1984</p>
<p>ROBERT SIDNEY SNOW FAMILY<br />
<a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/robert-sidney-snow/" target="_blank">Robert Sidney Snow</a> was born to Jasper Newton Snow and Elizabeth Dunbar Snow in <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Columbia&amp;state=KY" target="_blank">Adair County, Kentucky</a>, November 12, 1854 on a Tobacco Plantation. <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/sarah-belle-conover-snow/" target="_blank">Sarah Belle Conover</a> was born in <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Columbia&amp;state=KY" target="_blank">Adair County, Kentucky</a> on July 26, 1859. They were married February 22, 1877. The year of 1882, [ed - I'm inclined to think the original trip was in October 1880 because of his obituary and this bio says that Dora was 2 - which would be 1882] Robert S. and his brother-in-law, William Carter, Hessakiah Chelf and others migrated to Missouri by covered wagon through rugged prairies and hills with no laid out roads. It took them many months. He and his group encountered many experiences and hardships. A year or so later, Sarah and two-year-old daughter, <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/fannie-dorina-snow-mills/" target="_blank">Dora</a>, came by train to <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Appleton+City&amp;state=MO#a/maps/m::7:38.190601:-94.029198:0:::::/e" target="_blank">Appleton City</a> where they were met by Robert. Robert was located on a farm near <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Lucas&amp;state=MO#a/maps/m::7:38.416401:-94.028603:0:::::/e" target="_blank">Lucas in Henry County</a>, where they lived for three years. They, then moved to <a href="http://www.mogenweb.org/bates/Maps/tnshpm.jpg" class="broken_link" target="_blank">Bates county</a>, where they spent the remainder of their life with the exception of one year which was spent in <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Carrollton&amp;state=MO#a/maps/m::7:39.358299:-93.495598:0:::::/e" target="_blank">Carroll county</a>. The &#8220;Snow Hill&#8221; in the <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Aaron&amp;state=MO" target="_blank">Aaron community</a> was named that, because of their patent rights to their farm nearby. At the time of their deaths, they were living at their farm located four miles northeast of <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Ballard&amp;state=MO" target="_blank">Ballard</a> where they had lived since 1910.</p>
<p>Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Snow, one dying in infancy. The others were <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/fannie-dorina-snow-mills/" target="_blank">Dora Mills</a>, <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/fayette-snow/" target="_blank">Fayette Snow</a>, <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/zella-snow-dale/" target="_blank">Zella Dale</a> and <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/yada-mae-snow/" target="_blank">Yada Snow</a>.</p>
<p>Robert Sidney was the eldest of ten children and in his early years had attended college and taught school. <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/corinna-snow-hurt/" target="_blank">Mrs. Corrina Hurt</a>, a resident of Ballard for many years, was a sister.</p>
<p>Sarah Belle was the eldest of 10 children. her family remained in Kentucky with the exception of one sister, Susie Carter and her husband William who had also come to Missouri.</p>
<p>Uncle Sid, as he was commonly called, was a charter member of the Cove Creek Christian Church. He was a Master Mason, belonging to the Masonic Lodge at Johnstown which is now defunct. Robert S. died in May, 1933 and Sarah Belle died in May, 1936. They are both buried at the <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;q=Garden+City+Cemetery,+Garden+City,+Cass,+Missouri+64747&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=40.953203,53.173828&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;cd=1&amp;geocod e=FWhUTAIdcQZj-g&amp;z=16&amp;g=Garden+City+Cemetery,+Garden+City,+Cass,+Missouri+64747&amp;iwloc=addr" target="_blank">Garden City Cemetery</a> in Garden City, MO.</p>

<p><a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/zella-snow-dale/" target="_blank">Mrs. Zella Dale</a> was born <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Lucas&amp;state=MO" target="_blank">near Urich, Missouri</a>, on September 26, 1886. She was the daughter of <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/robert-sidney-snow/" target="_blank">Robert Sydney </a>and <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/sarah-belle-conover-snow/" target="_blank">Sarah Bell Conover Snow</a> of Kentucky. She was one of four children and the only one to survive. Mrs. and Mrs. Dale one son, <a href="http://snowfamilygenealogy.com/bobby-jean-dale/" target="_blank">Bobby Gene</a>, who died in infancy.<br />
Mr. and Mrs. Dale lived on a farm near Creighton where he was a farmer and a rural mail carrier until moving to <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Garden+City&amp;state=MO" target="_blank">Garden City, Missouri</a>, where he was cashier of the Farmers Bark for several years before moving to Lupus in 1934 and becoming cashier of the bank there. The Lupus Bank merged with the bank of Jamestown on October 30, 1938, with Mr. Dale as cashier there.</p>
<p>On January 11, 1941, the bank of Jamestown closed for liquidation proceedings after having served the community for 50 years. The New Peoples Bank of Jamestown opened its doors for business January 13, 1941, with Mr. Dale as cashier; her served in that capacity until his successor A. E. McDaniel assumed his duties as cashier July 1, 1954, when Mr. Dale retired.</p>
<p>On January 3, 1956, Mr. Dale suffered a fatal heart attack while attending an income tax meeting in <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=California&amp;state=MO" target="_blank">California, Missouri</a>. He was buried in the <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;q=Garden+City+Cemetery,+Garden+City,+Cass,+Missouri+64747&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=40.953203,53.173828&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;cd=1&amp;geocode=FWhUTAIdcQZj-g&amp;z=16&amp;g=Garden+City+Cemetery,+Garden+City,+Cass,+Missouri+64747&amp;iwloc=addr" target="_blank">cemetery in Garden City</a>.</p>

Mrs. Dale then moved to <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Urich&amp;state=MO&amp;address=204+W+4th+St&amp;zipcode=64788-9269&amp;country=US&amp;latitude=38.459574&amp;longitude=-94.002529&amp;geocode=ADDRESS" target="_blank">Urich, Missouri</a> in May, 1967, to be near her relatives. In September, 1979, she suffered a broken hip so at present, she is at the Westwood Nursing Home in <a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Clinton&amp;state=MO&amp;country=US&amp;latitude=38.368599&amp;longitude=-93.778099&amp;geocode=CITY" target="_blank">Clinton, Missouri</a>. She will be 94 years old in September.</p>
<p>Her memories of living in Moniteau County are very happy and pleasant and are still quite vivid with her, and she often speaks of the many fine friends and the happy times in the years she spent there; these memories help to make her days pass more quickly.</p>
<p>Since the above history was written, Mrs. Zella Dale died on May 17, 1980.<br />
