Obituary
Fayette Snow departed this life at the family home near Urich, Mo. on May 6, 1946, after a lingering illness of several months. During this time, his devoted companion, assisted by their sons, daughters and families administered to him with loving hands to make his suffering easier to bear. All were with him when the Master called him home. Fayette Snow, the second child [ed: he was actually the third child – see birth record above and the 1900 census information for his mother where it lists her as the mother of 5 children, 4 children living] and only son of Sarah Belle Conover and Robert Sidney Snow, was born November 9 , 1884 in Henry County near Lucas, Mo., and spent his entire life in that part of Henry County and the eastern part of Bates County, with the exception of one year spent in Carroll County. On July 6, 1913 he was united in marriage to Mattie Ewing Spears at Johnstown, Mo. and with the exception of one year they spent their entire married life on the farm where he died. To this union five children were born, three sons, James Robert, who died in infancy, Merle Dale, Pittsburg, Ks. and Gilbert Ronald of St. Joseph, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Jxxxxxx Bxxxx Sxxxx, Adrian, Mo. and Mrs. Mxxxxxx Fxxx Cxxxxx, Clinton, Mo. He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his faithful companion and four children, four grandchildren, Gxxx Dxxx Sxxxx, Cxxxxxx Exxxxx, Mxxxxx Jxxxx and Jxxxx Exxxxx Snow; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Mills, Urich, Mo. Mrs. Zella Dale and Miss Yada Snow, Jamestown; and one niece, Mrs. Pxxxxx Wxxxxxxxx; and one nephew, Kxxxxxx Mxxxx, both of Kansas City, Mo.; several aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends. His father preceded him in death just 13 years to the day on May 6, 1933, and his mother on May 2, 1936. Several years ago, under the teachings of the late Rev. R. M. Shelton, Mr. Snow professed his faith in Christ and was baptized. He united with the Cove Creek Christian Church and remained an active worker as long as his health permitted, being a deacon at the time of his death. He was a devoted husband and parent, always interested in the welfare of his children and their families, and among his greatest pleasures was for his children and grandchildren to visit him in his home. Fayette will be greatly missed as he was ever ready to lend a helping hand in time of need. He always sympathized with the less fortunate in life and he highly valued the friendship of neighbors and friends. Funeral services were held at the Cove Creek Christian Church at 1: pm Thursday, May 9, 1946, conducted by the Rev. W. R. Dalton of Adrian, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barth and Mr. and Mrs. Bishop Cannon sang “Good Night Here and Good Morning There”, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, and ” Going Down the Valley”, accompanied by Miss Avis Lee Cannon at the piano. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Mo.
